ABC Wednesday "K" = Santa's Key

For the letter "K" I bring you Key.

The stockings are hung, milk and cookies are set out, carrots are placed outside for the reindeer.... and then little Betty Sue ask, "Mom, will Santa still bring me presents even though we don't have chimney for him to come down?" Uh Oh!

This is where Mom yet again saves the day. "Why yes Betty Sue, of course Santa will bring presents. I have a special key right here just for Santa."

Ok, I know my story's a little cheesy, but that's how it's supposed to work. lol

For all those parent's our there without a fireplace / chimney we sell Santa's Key to help ease the worries of expectant little ones on Christmas Eve.

Here are a few cute "Santa's Key" poems that I've found to use with the key:

(1.)

Santa's Magic Key
This key is very special, you see.
It won't work for you or me.
Hang it just outside your door then go to bed and worry no more.
Close your eyes and close them tight, 'cause Santa Claus is coming tonight!"

(2.)

Santa's Key
Take this magic key tonight,
and hang it on your door so tight.

Santa's on his way to you,
in his sleigh with presents too!

He'll tiptoe in, not missing a house,
jolly old guy as quiet as a mouse.

Whisper magic and joy in each child's ear,
come to deliver some holiday cheer!

(3.)

Santa's Key
Our stocking's hang upon a wall.
We have no fireplace at all!

You see the problem is quite clear.
Santa, how will you get in here? We heard a legend. Is it true?
Of magic only you can do.

We'll leave out any plain old key, and mark it "Santa" so you can see.
Your magic makes the key fit right, so you can get inside that night.

Thank you Santa, here's our key.
The milk and cookies are on me!"

Crafty Tuesday - DLTK's Printable Crafts

Today, instead of a tutorial, I'd like to let you know about a great site for kids' printable crafts. The site is DLTK's Crafts for Kids. I've been using DLTK's since my oldest was in pre-k. The site is run by a mom who for the most part came up with all the craft ideas as projects to do with her girls and their friends.

DLTK's Crafts has printable color sheets, craft ideas, educational worksheets... you name it. There is even a page where you can search for a craft by which supplies are needed. This is great for rainy days at home. Just take a look in the craft bucket, see what you have on hand, and head over to the search tab.

DLTK's is usually my go-to place for the kids around the holidays. We print out coloring sheets and look for easy craft ideas to decorate the house with.   http://www.dltk-holidays.com/

Happy Crafting & Enjoy Your Tuesday!

(DLTK's Crafts & A Very Merry Christmas Store are in no way connected. This is a website review from one mom to another.)

Crafty Tuesday - Thanksgiving Tablecloth

Thanksgiving Tablecloth

A few years ago I wanted to find a way to put our own family twist on Thanksgiving dinner. I came up with this tablecloth that we bring out every year to use for the holiday. My plan is to update it every year in the hopes of passing it down to the kids one of these days as a family heirloom.

Instructions:

  • Pick up a plain white cotton/linen tablecloth.
  • Grab your ink pad from the craft cabinet and stamp the kids' handprints on the tablecloth.
  • Write their names and year by their prints. When they get older they can write their names themselves and you can look back thru the years to see how their handwriting has improved.
  • Embellish as you would like. I have left mine plain white, but you can buy Thanksgiving themed stamps that would work well also.
  • If you plan to have a true messy Thanksgiving feast using this tablecloth, you'll want to purchase a clear cover to place on top of it. Usually, clear disposable covers are available at party supply stores for just around $2.00.

Happy Crafting!
